Introducing FreeWheels Racing!

FreeWheels graduates have been asking about racing and how to race almost since the beginning of the program.  Since FreeWheels owes its existence to kids asking me to help them do stuff, I thought we'd give it a try.

We've been collecting tons of donations, and every once in a while a road bike crosses our path.  Today, we got them out and played around!

Check out these kids in the drops, hammering away in the big ring!

After they got used to their new shifters, we headed for Cliff Drive to practice going all out.

We started out slow, but then Sofie challenged everybody to race to the fountain!  We were working hard to catch each other, and by the time we got there, had to stop, wash our faces and drink all the water we brought.

We will be at the Tour de Brew, the Cyclone Classic and bike rodeos this spring, working on bikes to earn community service hours to go racing.  We look forward to seeing you there!
