Group Ride!

Last Saturday we went on a group ride with FreeWheels graduates and volunteers.
It was awesome!

Before we left we had to finish our bikes:

and confirm that I really, REALLY need a haircut:

After we figured that out, we learned some traffic skills, like riding on the right side of the road,

and signaling.

We went almost 12 miles(!) and saw some amazing views of the city. We even rode a bike elevator, which sadly can't touch Bryan's cyclocrossin' skillz. Here he is running up the stairs with Red Five.

When we got there, we decided we needed to get serious and salute our comrades who fell in the battle to destroy the Death Star. Or... something.

But one of the graduates set us straight, casually deliberate style.

So we chilled out and went on back to the neighborhood.

And the group ride finished with a boom!

Stay tuned as things develop; hopefully we will be having weekly group rides soon, open to volunteers and graduates. I hope to see you there!

The Rosedale class is off to a roaring start with 16 students (crazy!) and some great adult volunteers. The Wyco police even donated a TON of bikes to make this happen, so if you get pulled over in KCK, be sure to at least thank the officers for the bike donations! We learned how to fix flats on Monday and some tool etiquette, and will be breaking into some of the ball bearings this week. We'll keep you updated on that as it goes on and hopefully have some pictures of ludicrously dirty hands.
