The ME Pearson Bike Rodeo was hosted and staffed almost entirely by Central Middle School Bike Club students. What a huge accomplishment for our students!

Bike Week!: Advocacy and program update

Bike Month has been busy over here at FW HQ. Check it out below.

Wow, I can't believe how busy Bike Month has already been!  We have more coming up, and we are starting to get rolling on Summer 2014.  REad on to find out what's happening and how you can help!
There is quite a bit going on, and as always, check out our events calendar or contact us for more information!

PS Volunteer opportunity TOMORROW! Help us bring bikes to Argentine. More details here.
Let's get rolling: Bringing bikes into PE and making a safer KCK!

Since 1969, the number of kids who walk or bike to school has gone from 50% to 13%, and school zones have become a snarl of traffic, cars stopped in the middle of the street, and an unnerving number of car-child collisions.

FreeWheels, and others, are working hard to turn back the tide in Kansas City. We help schools change policies to encourage biking, help provide students with bike locks and even set up parking, all before the main event: bikes in PE!

In Spring 2014, we've taught 4th and 5th graders safe bike riding and safe bike driving skills in PE class at three elementary schools, and are giving away bikes, locks and helmets almost as fast as we can, all to encourage kids to bike to school. (PS Click here to help us tomorrow afternoon!)

We are working hard to identify and address barriers to biking and walking in neighborhoods and make it easier to get to school healthy, happy and safe!
Become a FreeWheels Ride Leader and join us in making Kansas City a better place to bike!

Learn how to lead group rides, ride confidently on the road and join Ride Leaders in making KC a great place to ride!

FreeWheels Bike Clubs are doing some amazing work, but we need your help to make it happen. FreeWheels Ride Leaders keep kids safe out on the road, model how to ride with cars and, perhaps most importantly, get to come on fun bike rides every week.

We will be training new Ride Leaders in just a few short weeks. Come learn how to lead group rides, ride confidently on the road and keep others safe.

Attending the training does not commit you to volunteering with Bike Clubs, but you will have the skills and tools you need to help us!

Ride Leader Training:
When: June 7th, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Where: 1403 Southwest Boulevard
Kansas City, KS 66103
